Fuel Cells Today - Plug Power to Supply Hydrogen Generator for MI Power Plant

Plug Power, Inc. recently announced it has been awarded a contract by Detroit Edison to provide an on-site hydrogen unit to cool six generators at the company's 1,400-megawatt Saint Clair Power Plant in East China, MI.

Plug Power said it plans to install the GenSite hydrogen generator to augment Saint Clair's existing liquid hydrogen infrastructure. The unit is currently on site, and Plug Power hopes it will be fully operational by early 2005.

"This is a great opportunity for Detroit Edison to test and prove on-site hydrogen generation technology in a demanding, industrial application," said Detroit Edison director for fossil generation performance Guy Harris. "We look forward to working with Plug Power on similar ventures in the future and in helping to play an important role in the realization of the hydrogen economy."
