Diesel Progress North American Edition - Hydrogen Engine Center Inc

Hydrogen Engine Center Inc. has received a $161,211 order through its wholly owned Canadian subsidiary, Hydrogen Engine Center Canada, from Natural Resources Canada for a 250 kW generator set. The gen-set utilizes the company's new proprietary 4+1 technology, which utilizes five hydrogen-fueled 4.9 L internal combustion engines. Four of the engines work together to produce electric power and one is kept in reserve to ensure high reliability and easy maintenance. Natural Resources Canada, an agency promoting the sustainable development and responsible use of Canada's resources, will integrate this gen-set into a wind/hydrogen project on Ramea Island off the southern coast of Newfoundland. Electric power and hydrogen will be generated from wind energy and under slack wind conditions, hydrogen will be used to create electric power.
