Renewable Energy Today - Progress Energy to Install PV, Fuel Cell System at FL ParkProgress Energy Florida recently announced it is constructing a fully integrated fuel cell and five-kilowatt photovoltaic (PV) solar system for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) at its Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park.
According to Progress Energy, the PV cells will power a Stuart Energy hydrogen generating system that will split water into hydrogen and oxygen. Progress Energy said the hydrogen gas will then be stored for later conversion into electricity by the fuel cell, which will help provide power for the Wildlife Encounter Pavilion.
Progress Energy noted that it is jointly funding the project with the DEP.
