Fuel Cells Today - Chewonki Orders System Components for New Hydrogen Project

Wiscasset, ME-based nonprofit educational institution the Chewonki Foundation and Portland, ME-based nonprofit the Hydrogen Energy Center recently announced that "major" system components have been ordered for the Chewonki Renewable Hydrogen Project.

In the project, Chewonki said renewably generated electricity will power an electrolyzer to cleanly generate hydrogen, which will be used, when needed, to feed fuel cells to provide backup power for Chewonki's 12,000-square-foot Center for Environmental Education.

Chewonki noted that the demonstration system and an accompanying education program are scheduled for completion later this year.
